TLB Reborn features two gameplay modes: Wandering and Urban Legends. A follow-up newsletter will explore Wandering, and today we wanna talk about a new one-shot Urban Legend Iko wrote while developing the new manuscript.
The Traveller is an adventure inspired by ufology, abduction stories, and the sublime madness of infinite starlight on a cold night in the desert. The Urban Legend begins with a dream. Invasive yet warm, welcoming, its details lead the characters to a special place in the Desert, on a special night. Dozens celebrate the impending visitation. And when the light descends, everything goes wrong.
If characters survive this Close Encounter, they soon affront Channel 7 misinformation campaigns, conspiracy group The Collectors hoarding clues, and their own nightmares warning of a second visitation. Where do the Collectors stock their artifacts? What signs mark the Desert? When will they confront The Traveller again and why does it want them?
Naturally, I was hooked by this idea (Chris Airiau, space cadet, here!), and joined a playtest for The Traveller. My character miraculously survived, though they ended up flesh-molded to another character, haha!
