The Lost Bay RPG
A few days ago, I sent the manuscript of The Lost Bay RPG (our suburban gothic 199X game) to Samantha Leigh, the editor. After countless rewrites, it's finally done—phew! While Samantha works her word-magic, I've started converting the third-party modules to the Reborn ruleset and working on the core book layout. You can still preorder the books and join us on our server where we regularly run TLB games, live or play-by-post.
Outer Rim Uprising: making progress!
We're getting close to finishing production for Outer Rim Uprising! The final print job is happening right now. Last week, I visited the printer to check some tests and fine-tune printing settings for the GM Screen. I'm excited, and impatient, to get this done! Below are a few pages of the SAP (Sentience Assessment Procedure) by Nyhur and myself, fresh off a humongous digital printer.
Passing By: Feedback & Future Plans
I've finished collecting feedback from Passing By playtesters! This is our solo journaling game about riding trains, inspired by Spirited Away. I can't thank the folks enough who took the time to playtest it and share their feedback. I'm super grateful for all the love and positive vibes received. Luckily, there shouldn't be much to rewrite, and I'll get to it this summer.
I've decided to make this happen! As soon as ORU starts shipping, I'll set up a little crowdfunding page to collect funds to print and hire the rest of the team:
will edit the game, while the amazing Lur Noise will do the art. Below is a very small fragment of the cover art by Lur, and a title font test. To be continued soon!Build a better world RPG Jam
The response to this jam fills my heart with joy and hope! To date, 39 creative, inventive, rebellious, feel-good zines have been submitted, displaying an extremely wide array of gaming styles, themes, and options. We'll do a full recap of the jam submissions later, but today, I'd like to highlight a handful of zines as a teaser, and encourage you to look at the rest of the submissions.
Contagion
Contagion: A game by The Inky Magpie about spreading the Happiness Virus by actually sending out postcards. Beautiful idea, layout, and game design. Ideal for a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Block by Block
Block by Block: What if the game's setting was your real-life community—its buildings, streets—and what if the game was actually played outside, as opposed to at the table? Sounds cool, right? That's exactly what Block by Block is: a game about building awareness & connection through engaging with the places you live, written by Will Purves, author of Make Accessible TTRPGs!!!.
Start exploring your community, Block by Block.
Created in community
Created in Community: A free resource and icon pack (with a gazillion variations) for designers and publishers, by Dión, one of the veteran members of The Lost Bay Server. Did your game, zine, or thing sprout from community effort and love? Let the world know by adding one of the Created in Community logos.
These are just a handful of projects submitted to the Build a Better World TTRPG jam. Browse them all.
And, if you're designing something for the jam, you now have plenty of time (the whole summer!), as the jam deadline has been postponed to September 22.
That's all I've got for you today.
Enjoy your Sunday!
